Lucas Bove becomes a defendant in the 2nd case involving Cíntia Chagas

The São Paulo Court made the state deputy (PL) a defendant in a 2nd criminal case involving influencer Cíntia Chagas, his ex-wife. The new action deals with 10 episodes of possible non-compliance with urgent protective measures granted to the victim in the context of investigations into domestic violence.

According to , the Public Ministry’s complaint was accepted by judge Felipe Pombo Rodriguez, from the Western Regional Court of Domestic and Family Violence against Women. According to the judge, there is sufficient evidence of authorship and materiality for the criminal action to proceed. The defense had asked for the case to be closed at this stage, but the request was rejected.

The instruction and trial hearings were scheduled for the 6th, 7th and 8th of October, at the Butantã Regional Forum, in the west zone of São Paulo. On the 1st day, the victim and prosecution witnesses will be heard. The next day, defense witnesses testify. Bove’s interrogation is scheduled for the 3rd day.

Protective measures are provided for in the Maria da Penha Law and may include restrictions on contact and proximity. In case of conviction, the penalty for non-compliance can range from 3 months to 2 years in prison. The state deputy responds to the lawsuits in freedom.

In a statement, Bove’s defense denied the accusations and declared that the politician did not commit any irregularities. Cíntia’s lawyer stated that she trusts the conviction at the end of the process.

Without directly mentioning the case, Bove published a message on social media thanking the support received and stating that the “truth speaks for itself”.

UNDERSTAND THE CASE

Bove is already a defendant in another case, for domestic and psychological violence and persecution against Cíntia Chagas. Justice was presented by the Public Prosecutor’s Office and the case is still awaiting judgment.

The marriage lasted about 90 days. The influencer filed a lawsuit against her ex-partner in 2024. The process is being processed partially under judicial secrecy.

In another development, the Public Prosecutor’s Office requested the deputy’s arrest for alleged violation of protective measures, but the Court denied the request. Even so, Bove was fined R$50,000 for failing to comply with court orders, such as the ban on publicly mentioning his ex-wife’s name.
