The US is dealing with Iran and Ukraine is bleeding: Zelensky sends a hard message, puts his hope in Berlin

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky believes that American mediators do not have time for Ukraine because they are too busy with the war with Iran. Zelensky said this in an interview with the German television station ZDF, writes TASR with reference to the report of the AFP agency.

Zelenskyy said that US negotiators Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner, who are leading negotiations with Moscow to end the war, are currently “constantly negotiating with Iran” and “have no time for Ukraine.” At the same time, however, he warned that “if the United States does not put pressure on (Russian President) Vladimir Putin,” the Russians will “stop being afraid.”

“If the war lasts longer, Ukraine will have fewer weapons,” added the Ukrainian president, stating about the Patriot air defense system: “We have such a shortage of them now that the situation could not be worse”.

Regarding the relationship between US President Donald Trump and Vladimir Putin, he said that America conducts more constructive diplomacy with Russia than with Europeans. “It is difficult for European countries to find their place in the tripartite talks,” he clarified.

Even though the conflict directly concerns European security and Europe strongly supports Ukraine, according to Zelensky, it does not have a strong enough position in decisive negotiations. At the same time he added that he does not see a clear signal from the United States that they would like to actively involve Europe in such formats.

In an interview with ZDF, the Ukrainian president singled out Germany and its chancellor Friedrich Merz. “Germany is undoubtedly the main strategic partner in Europe,” he said, adding that Berlin is now helping Kyiv more than Washington.

After his visit to Germany, Zelenskyi left for Norway early Tuesday evening, added the British station BBC. The Ukrainian president informed that in Oslo, he plans to hold talks with Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Stör, a meeting with Crown Prince Haakon and members of the Norwegian Parliament.
