Woman arrested for R$700,000 scam with fake vehicle auctions in RJ

The Civil Police arrested, this Monday (13), a woman identified as a member of a criminal group responsible for causing murder.more than R$700,000 in losses due to fraud on vehicle auction sites.

The action was carried out by agents from the Civil Police of Rio de Janeiro, with support from . The suspect was located hiding in the community of Tirol, in the Parish, West Zone of Rio de Janeiro.

According to investigations, the group created and maintained, simulating legitimate platforms to attract victims. The pages were hosted on international servers, which made it difficult to track those responsible.

The victims believed in the authenticity of the websites and made payments after supposed auctions of vehicles that, in practice, did not exist.

In one of the identified cases, one person even transferred more than R$60 thousand believing he had purchased a car. According to the police, the scheme was structured and operated continuously, accumulating losses of more than R$700,000.

The arrest also had support from Projeto Captura, an initiative coordinated by the Ministry of Justice in partnership with the Rio Civil Police, aimed at locating and arresting fugitives.

The investigation remains ongoing to identify others involved in the scheme.
