GNR Traffic Brigade will return, almost 20 years later. Stop operations are no longer announced. Minister announces news.
A GNR Traffic Brigadeextinguished in 2007, will be reactivated as one of the measures to reduce road accidents, the Minister of Internal Administration announced today.
Another of the measures announced by Luís Neves involves a new Highway Code. The document will bring together “all the scattered diplomas” approved over the last few years, commented the minister – who did not present the list of new features in the new code. He just said that “it won’t be a job that lasts years; it will be months”.
Come here more supervision, passing the ‘stop’ operations of security forces to stop being announced: “With us there will no longer be any stop operations that are notified in advance”, said the minister, stressing that supervision must be “even more visible, more effective, unwavering and uncompromising”.
The governor also announced that there will be more radars of speed control, the criteria for revoking driving licenses will be expanded and driving under the influence of alcohol will have “an aggravated punishment”.
As feathers and administrative offenses will be changed. Luís Neves guaranteed that he will fight against the statute of limitations for road traffic offenses, announcing that he will increase the statute of limitations to an “unprecedented limit”, the maximum allowed by law.
Regarding the National Road Safety Strategy, the minister acknowledged that it is late and indicated that it is already in the legislative process and should be approved soon.
