Lula asks Galípolo to clarify the Banco Master case

President says he wants to clarify “who is who” in the case, with transparency, without accusing those responsible

The president (PT) stated that he asked the president of the , Gabriel Galípolo, to clarify to society “who is who” in the case involving Banco Master. The statement was given in an interview with TV 247, this Tuesday (April 14, 2026), when he commented on the investigations related to the financial institution.

According to Lula, the objective is not to point out blame, but to transparently present the origin of the problems. “I don’t want you to accuse anyone, because you’re not a police officer or a prosecutor. I just want you to show society who is who”stated the president.

Lula said that the analysis must be based on the chronology of the facts. According to him, Banco Master had its first authorization request denied in February 2019, still under the management of Ilan Goldfajn (2016-2019). Months later, in September of the same year, under the command of Roberto Campos Neto (2019-2024), the institution would have been authorized to operate.

For the president, the sequence of events indicates that the case originated with the previous government. He also stated that it is not up to the current BC command to make accusations, but rather to provide public clarifications on the facts.

Lula also cited the role of the federal deputy (PT-RS) in a CPI (Parliamentary Commission of Inquiry), highlighting that the congressman presented a chronology of the case during the work.
