The senator (PDT-MA) presented its favorable opinion on the appointment of the Attorney General of the Union on Tuesday night (April 14, 2026), to occupy a seat in the Leia a 187 (kB).

The president (PT) chose Jorge Messias for the position in November 2025. The government sent the official message to the Senate only at the beginning of April 2026.
On Thursday (April 9), Weverton had already declared to journalists that he would present a favorable opinion on the nomination. On that date, he stated that Messiah meets constitutional requirements, such as “notorious legal knowledge and unblemished reputation”. He also said that the nominee has intensified dialogue with senators in recent months and that the scenario is considered favorable to approval.
