Can a car be parked in the same place for more than a month?

Can a car be parked in the same location for more than 30 days in a row? This is a common question among many drivers, especially now that the holidays are approaching for many Portuguese people. Faced with the question raised by several users on social networks about what the Traffic Code says, SIC Verifies.

Photographs of ‘forgotten’ cars flood social media groups and the question is repeated several times: “how long can a vehicle be parked in the same place?”.

What does the Traffic Code say?

According to the o parking is considered improper or abusive when a vehicle remains uninterruptedly in the same location for a period longer than 30 dias in places on public roads, in parking lots or parking areas exempt from paying any fee. After this period, the authorities may proceed to block and subsequently remove the vehicle.
