Luciana Jordão reappointed as SP General Public Defender – 04/16/2026 – Panel

The governor of , (Republicans), reappointed the current general public defender of SP, Luciana Jordão, to the position. The appointment was published in the state’s Official Gazette this Thursday (16) – one day after the list of candidates for the vacancy was submitted.

In the election, Luciana had a significant vote: 621 of the total 822 votes. The only opponent in the campaign was defender Allan Ramalho Ferreira.

Luciana Jordão has a degree in Law, a master’s degree in Procedural Law and Citizenship and a PhD in Administration, with a doctoral internship at the Université de Strasbourg.

Despite not being obliged to nominate the person with the most votes, the governor of São Paulo reappointed the state’s current general public defender. In the last administration, she says she expanded the defender’s service by 20%, including itinerant initiatives.

For the next biennium, it promises to open 22 new units and expand specialized care for women victims across the state. The head of the agency still wants to implement hyper-automation processes and create a climate observatory.
