Estaràs defends Europe as a key space to ensure equal opportunities, the protection of citizens and democratic stability
Over more than 15 years in the European Parliament, Estaràs has defended the role of the European Union as guarantor of rights and freedoms. In his speech, Europe appears as a key space to ensure the equal opportunities, the protection of citizens and democratic stability.
His profile in Brussels has a marked social accent. The defense of the rights of people with disabilities occupies a central place in their work, within a broader agenda focused on equality and the protection of vulnerable groups. Added to this is an international perspective that places the European Union as a fundamental actor in the defense of democracy against external threats.
In this context, he warns of an increasingly unstable global scenario, with conflicts such as the war in Ukraine or the crisis in the Middle East, which he interprets as direct challenges to European values. She has also raised her voice about the situation of women in Iran, denouncing the repression they suffer and thus reinforcing her discourse in defense of human rights beyond community borders.
At the same time, it maintains an agenda very close to the territory from which it comes, the Balearic Islands. From Brussels, he demands recognition of the insularity factor and specific policies for the Balearic Islands, in addition to betting on a sustainable tourism model that avoids overcrowding without harming the sector.
