  • The Ukrainian president called the normalization of current relations with Russia impossible.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyi stressed on Thursday, after a massive attack by Russian drones and missiles, that sanctions against the Kremlin should not be eased. He informed about it on the X social network, writes TASR.

“The next night she confirmed again that Russia does not deserve any easing of global measures or the lifting of sanctions. Russia is preparing for war, and our response must be exactly that: we must defend lives by all available means, and at the same time we must press with equal force for the sake of peace,” wrote the president of Ukraine, according to whom the normalization of relations with Russia is currently not possible.

The Ukrainian Air Force claims to have destroyed 31 Russian missiles and 636 drones in the past 24 hours. “During this period, the enemy launched two waves of combined attacks on Ukrainian territory,” said in a post on Telegram. In total, Russia fired 44 missiles and almost 700 drones. 14 people were killed in the process.

Zelenskyi also called on his partners to fulfill their promises to Ukraine on time. According to him, although many were given, they have not yet been fulfilled. Zelenskyj specifically mentioned cooperation in the so-called Ramstein format, as well as partners’ promises to supply missiles to Patriot air defense systems.

The President of the European Council António Costa on Thursday strongly condemned the latest Russian attacks on several large cities of Ukraine and promised the continued support of the European Union for Kyiv. informs TASR.

“Overnight, Russia launched another heinous attack on civilian targets in Ukraine. While people slept in their homes, the cities of Kyiv, Dnipro, Odesa and Kharkiv were hit by dozens of ballistic missiles and hundreds of drones.” wrote Costa on the social network X. He also accused Russian forces of targeting rescuers after they arrived at the sites of the strikes. “Russia’s war of aggression against Ukraine has failed, which is why Russia has decided to deliberately terrorize civilians… Russia must end this war of terror,” he stressed.

At the same time, Costa pointed out the need to achieve a just and lasting peace based on the principles of the UN Charter and international law. According to him, the EU will continue to increase pressure on Russia and continue to support Ukraine in its defense.
