USP Law Student Disappears in Ukraine War

One student from the faculty of Right and USP (University of São Paulo) is missing since the day April 4 after a fight during a Ukrainian War.

The Brazilian, 23 years oldleft the country to to fight in July last year. The young man’s mother asks the their identity is preserved by intense hate attacks on the internet.

The information was confirmed to CNN Brazil for the Itamaraty.

Wanted, told CNN Brazilwho did not want to speak out because of the “terrible” comments about his son.

On the networks, many hateful comments echo in publications about the disappearance, such as: “Question: should I have empathy?”, “Let all the cattle go there! It would be a dream!”, “Let your laugh”.

Despite statements like these, a young woman left a message in favor of the family, “These comments are absurd and disgusting! I had the pleasure of meeting Igor personally and I can say in all words that he was an exceptional boy.”

“The Brazilian government, through the Brazilian Embassy in Kiev, was notified by the Ukrainian authorities about the “missing in action” status of the aforementioned Brazilian national. Itamaraty is in contact with the Brazilian’s family, to whom it provides consular assistance, and with the Ukrainian authorities.
In cases where Ukrainian authorities report the confirmed death or disappearance in combat of a Brazilian, the Brazilian Embassy in Kiev, in coordination with the Brazilian Communities and Consular Assistance Division of Itamaraty, in Brasília, informs family members in Brazil about the incident and forwards a document prepared by the Ukrainian government regarding measures to be taken by the family with that government.”
