Presidents, prime ministers, ministers and ambassadors from 25 countries met in Barcelona
The president (PT) participated this Saturday (April 18, 2026) in the family photo of world leaders present at the 4th High-Level Meeting of the Forum for the Defense of Democracy, in Barcelona (Spain). Lula was alongside presidents José Maria Neves, of Cape Verde, and Yamandú Orsi, of Uruguay.
The registration brought together representatives from different regions of the world, as well as Guy Ryder, Under-Secretary-General for Policies at the UN (United Nations). Find out who was with Lula in the photo:
During the summit, Lula asked Presidents Donald Trump (United States), Emmanuel Macron (France), Vladimir Putin (Russia) and Xi Jinping (China) and the Prime Minister of the United Kingdom, Keir Stamer, to convene a meeting and “stop this war madness”. The 5 countries are the permanent members of the UN Security Council, which the president called “warlords”.
The PT member also criticized the dominant economic model. He said that neoliberalism promised prosperity, but delivered hunger, inequality and insecurity. Furthermore, it highlighted the uneven impact of global crises.

Lula embarked on Thursday (April 16) for a 6-day trip around Europe. More than 30 agreements and announcements are estimated with Spain and Germany. The PT member traveled with a delegation of at least 14 ministers and presidents of state-owned companies. Janja, on Wednesday (April 15).
