At least two people have died and five have been injured this Saturday in a shooting in a kyiv supermarketas confirmed by the city’s mayor, Vitali Klitschko. The attacker, armed, remains entrenched inside the establishment while the Police maintain an extensive operation to try to reduce it.
Klitschko himself has reported the situation through his official Telegram channel, where he has asked citizens for caution in the face of an incident that continues to develop and that keeps local authorities on alert.
The attacker shot first in the street
According to the first information provided by medical sources, The attacker opened fire on several passers-by in the vicinity of the supermarket before entering the premises. As a result of these shots, two people have died and at least five have been injured, all of them taken to hospitals.
For now, The identity of the attacker or his possible motivations has not been revealed.. It has also not been confirmed if there are more people inside the establishment or if the number of victims could increase in the coming hours.
Police operation underway in kyiv
The Ukrainian Police keeps the area cordoned off while trying to neutralize the suspect, who remains barricaded inside the supermarket. Emergency and medical teams remain deployed at the scene, treating the injured and evaluating the situation.
