Supreme Leader says Iran is prepared to impose ‘new defeats’ on the enemy

Iran’s supreme leader, Motjaba Khamenei, stated this Saturday (18) that the Navy is prepared to inflict “new defeats” on the enemy. The statement came shortly after Tehran decided to close the Strait of Hormuz again in response to the American blockade of its ports. “The valiant navy of the Iranian Army is ready to inflict new and bitter defeats on its enemies.”, wrote Khamenei on his account on X (formerly Twitter).

. The reopening of the crucial maritime passage for global oil transport was well received on the stock exchanges and generated optimism in Washington.

In the midst of the new lockdown, the British maritime security agency reported, after the Iranian Army announced the closure of the shipping route.

Despite tensions and threats, the United States and Iran have been in a truce since April 7th. This Saturday, President Donald Trump stated that the countries continue talking to reach a ceasefire, however, he reinforced that Iran cannot blackmail them. On the other hand, the Iranians confirmed that they have received and are analyzing the new US proposals, however, they emphasized that they will not make ‘any concessions’.

“Iran is analyzing and has not yet responded,” said Iran’s Supreme National Security Council. The Iranian negotiating delegation “will not make the slightest concession” and “will defend the nation’s interests with all its strength,” it added.
