Lori Chavez-DeRemer is the third woman to leave President Donald Trump’s administration in as many weeks

The United States Secretary of Labor, Lori Chavez-DeRemer will leave her role, the White House said this Monday (20), after a management marked by a series of scandalsincluding complaints about the treatment of young female employees.

After taking office in March 2025, She is the third woman to leave President Donald Trump’s administration within weeks, following the forced departures of Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem and Attorney General Pam Bondi.

“The Secretary of Labor Lori Chavez-Deremer will resign from government to take a role in the private sector“, a White House spokesman, Steve Cheung, announced on X, praising his “phenomenal” management.

The 58-year-old former Oregon congresswoman had the support of more than a dozen Democrats in her confirmation, but recently faced calls to resign over accusations that she, her aides and family members frequently sent personal messages and solicitations to young members of her staff.

The New York Times reported last week that the secretary and a former deputy chief of staff they sent text messages asking employees to bring them wine during department trips.

Chavez-DeRemer’s husband and father also exchanged text messages with young female employees, some of whom had been told by the Labor secretary to “pay attention” to men, according to the Times.

Three employees filed complaints for civil rights violations, in which they describe a hostile work environment, according to the newspaper.

Chavez-DeRemer has not been personally accused of wrongdoing in the case involving her father and husband.
