The seventh round of the dance show Let’s Dance tested the real skills of the contestants. Television Markíza has been announcing for several days that there will be a big surprise in the show. Even the contestants themselves had no idea what it would be about. Right after the first dance of Nela Pocisková and Filip Kucman, moderator Adam Bardy called all the contestants to the dance floor. Then, together with his colleague Jana Kovalčiková, he announced to them a surprise that happened for the first time in the history of Let’s Dance, not only in Slovakia, but also worldwide.
Instead of rehearsed fights in cha chi, the creators threw the stars directly into deep water. The contestants, who had been struggling at every step for weeks, received an uncompromising ultimatum. They had to prepare a completely new dance right during the evening. What dance they would dance was not predetermined. Each pair chose from four envelopes in which a type of standard dance was written. After one envelope was removed, the others were also opened to make it clear that nothing was pre-arranged.
After their first performance, each pair was given a strict limit of 60 minutes to choose their costumes and put together a completely new choreography to an unknown song. These performances were scored by the jury. For the contestants, who had no idea about this surprise in advance, it represented a huge mental and physical test.
One of the favorites Ján Koleník and his dance partner Dominika Rošková won the Viennese waltz to the song Next To Me by the band Imagine Dragons. Already during the preparations, Koleník could see that he was feeling stressed. In some shots, he walked with a chocolate in his hand, from which he took a bite.
After the time limit expired, the dancing couple was interviewed by moderator Jana Kovalčiková, who was interested in how they felt shortly before their impromptu dance. “Are the paramedics around here please, paramedics?” demanded the sex symbol. He admitted right on the dance floor that although he appears calm on the outside, he screams on the inside. In the end, the jury was blown away by their number and they earned an incredible 38 points. In the seventh round, they reached the top of the judges’ table.
