Five students from Guinea Bissau stranded at Lisbon airport for a week

At least five Guinean students have been stranded at Lisbon airport for a week. The documents presented still do not allow entry into the country and another five ended up being repatriated. The Guinea-Bissau students’ association in Lisbon says they are being treated inhumanely.

They arrived in Portugal last week. They came to study but ended up being stranded at the airport. The authorities found the arrival strange allegedly so late of those students.

Five were repatriated this Tuesday, the other five are still waiting to find out whether or not they can stay. The Guinea-Bissau students’ association in Lisbon denounces the conditions in which they are held.

These young people will have been held backdue to the difficulty in proving who had conditions of stay and subsistence. Apmust have already been previously accepted by Higher Education institutions.

Also the delay in visa processes may have contributed to this situation. Students staying at Humberto Delgado airport should be repatriated in the coming days.
