Ukrainian billionaire Rinat Akhmetov, one of the richest men in the world, purchased a luxury apartment in Monaco for 471 million euros (approximately R$2.7 billion), in one of the largest residential real estate transactions in history.
Akhmetov is the owner of the Ukrainian football team, known for having some Brazilians playing on the team. Bernard, Ilsinho, Tayson, Junior Moraes, Luiz Adriano, Marlos and others have already defended the team’s shirt.
The property
The property has around 2,500 square meters, spread over five floors, and has 21 rooms. It is located in the “Le Renzo” building, within the Mareterra district — a high-end area built on land reclaimed from the sea and inaugurated in 2024 by Prince Albert II.
The apartment includes several terraces with views of the Mediterranean Sea, as well as a private pool, jacuzzi and at least eight parking spaces.
The purchase was made through Akhmetov’s holding company, System Capital Management (SCM), which confirmed the investment, but did not disclose details about the value or characteristics of the property.
Real estate records and documents analyzed by Bloomberg indicate that the deal was closed in 2024, before the Russian invasion of Ukraine, which subsequently significantly affected the businessman’s business.
Mareterra is currently one of the most popular regions, with properties that can cost more than 100 thousand euros per square meter, attracting billionaire investors from all over the world.
With a fortune estimated at billions of dollars, Akhmetov has previously invested in , including a historic mansion on the French Riviera and a luxury apartment in London.
