Since May 2025, overnight guests in Salzburg have been able to use all public transport in the state of Salzburg. They currently pay 50 cents more in local tax per night. Next year it will be 1.10 euros. The so-called Guest Mobility Ticket was introduced by State Transport Councilor Stefan Schnöll (ÖVP) together with the Salzburg Transport Association. 4.5 million tickets have been issued since then. “The aim is for holidaymakers – if they travel to Salzburg by car – to at least leave their car at the holiday destination,” says Schnöll.
