Trump: "Close to a great deal with Iran - I don't want an extension of the truce"

As information on the negotiations between and is mixed, as both sides raise the intensity of their statements and Tehran denies that it is considering participating in the negotiations, in his interview with CNBC he insists that a deal is close because according to him the US has a very strong negotiating position.

According to what the US president said in his interview: “We are in a strong negotiating position. We’re going to get a great deal.”

As he pointed out: “We don’t have much time because I don’t want to extend the truce. We are ready for military action.”

As he added, the blockade of Iranian ports and the Straits has been crowned with success.

According to him: “Iran must show sobriety and common sense,” the US president asserted, stressing that “talks in Islamabad are the only way out before the bombs fall.” As he added: “It’s not my choice, but it would also hurt them, it would hurt them militarily. They use the bridges for their weapons, for the movement of their missiles. They are trying to move the missiles, because we have destroyed most of them, and they are trying to move them even during the ceasefire. We are fully equipped. We have too much ammunition, we have everything. Much more power than we had four or five weeks ago. So we’ve used that time to replenish our stocks and they’ve probably done some replenishment as well.”

The US president had previously threatened to bomb Iran’s water treatment plants, as well as power plants and bridges, if Tehran did not agree to give up its nuclear program – a key point of contention between the two sides.

He then hinted that he suspects China may have aided Iran during the US-Israeli war against the country.

“We intercepted a ship yesterday that was carrying some things that were not good at all — maybe a ‘gift’ from China,” Trump said. “I don’t know, but I’m kind of surprised, because I have a very good relationship and I thought I had an understanding with President Xi, but okay. That’s what war is like, right?’

However, the US president insisted that: “Wednesday’s deadline is final,” he said, emphasizing that “I don’t want to extend the truce.” Earlier it is noted that he had accused Iran through Truth Social of violating the ceasefire several times.
