Several injured in head-on train collision in Denmark

Two trains have collided Thursday morning at Dinamarca, between Hillerød and Kagerupto some 40 kilometers north of Copenhagencausing several injuries, according to police and local media.

“A serious train accident has occurred. Two trains have collided, and police, as well as emergency services, are deployed in large numbers,” local police wrote in a statement. Local media talk about a dozen injuredwhose status has not been specified.

At 6:30 in the morning, the Frederiksborg fire and rescue service received a notification about the train accident. According to the capital’s emergency services, two local trains they collided head-on at an intersection. There are injuries among the passengers, but all have been disembarked from the convoys.

The police have reported that the rail service in the area will be affected indefinitely. The section of road between Isterødvejen and Kagerup is closed and is expected to remain closed for an extended period.

Seven ambulances, two emergency vehicles, two emergency medical assistance vehicles, three medical transports and an emergency coordinator, in addition to an Armed Forces helicopter, participate in the rescue and relief efforts.
