A Russian drone attack overnight in the southern Ukrainian city of Odessa killed an elderly couple and injured more than a dozen others, Ukrainian authorities said on Friday.
The offensive destroyed two two-story buildings and hit another two-story building, where emergency services said. It also destroyed apartments in a three-story building, causing a fire, they added.
“A couple, both 75 years old, were killed in one,” Serhiy Lysak, head of the local military administration, said on Telegram.
Lysak said 15 people were injured in the attack, while emergency services put the number of injured at 14. He added that eight of those injured in the attack received hospital treatment.
Lysak posted photos of one building on fire and another with a huge hole in the side, with emergency crews working inside.
In addition to targets on the ground, dTwo Russian drones struck one flying the flag of Saint Kitts and Nevis as it sailed through a Ukrainian maritime corridor towards a port in the Greater Odessa region on the Black Sea, Ukraine’s port authority said on Friday.
The attack caused a fire that was extinguished by the crew, the company said, adding that, according to preliminary information, no one was injured.
