Milan striker Rafael Leão used social media to speak out after his name was mentioned in reports about an alleged sex scandal investigated in Italy.
In a post on Instagram, the player denied any connection with the case and stated that. According to him, the association of his name with the investigation is inappropriate.
“I want to clarify directly that I am completely unaware of the facts. I was not involved and did not commit any crime”, wrote the athlete. Leão also stated that he has already activated his legal team to take measures against the dissemination of false information.
“I have already given my lawyer a mandate to defend me in all instances against anyone who continues to spread false news or news that is harmful to my reputation,” he added.
The investigation is led by the Milan Public Prosecutor’s Office and investigates the activities of one that operated in the Cinisello Balsamo region, close to Milan. According to the local press, the group offered packages that included access to bars, nightclubs, luxury hotels and sexual services.
In addition to Leão, other players had their names mentioned by Italian outlets, such as Nuno Tavares, Arthur Melo and Olivier Giroud, among others.
