Tornado in Oklahoma, USA, rips off roofs and knocks down power poles

Roofs were torn off and power poles toppled after a strong tornado hit the state of Oklahoma, in the United States, this Thursday, the 23rd. Videos taken at the time of the incident show the large column of air rotating quickly and touching the ground, in addition to completely destroyed houses.

Until the beginning of this Friday, the 24th, no deaths were reported as a result of the episode; the total number of injured has not yet been counted. Local officials are assessing the extent of the damage and impact as the region prepares for the possibility of more tornadoes in the coming days.

The phenomenon hit parts of Enid, a city of about 50,000 people in the far north of the state, according to the National Weather Service. The community, which is about 105 km from Oklahoma City, is located near Vance Air Force Base, which was also hit. The extent of the damage has not yet been confirmed.

According to police, there are ransom demands and reports of damage throughout the city.
