Presidents of four of the largest trade unions in the country sent a letter to the president of , (-PB), defending the appointment of (Solidariedade-SP) as rapporteur of the proposed constitutional amendment that
“This is a parliamentarian whose public career shows remarkable capacity for dialogue, articulation and movement between different fields of Parliament, party leaders and representations of both the productive sector and the trade union movement”, says the letter, signed by Miguel Torres, from Força Sindical, Ricardo Patah, from UGT (União Geral dos Trabalhadores), Antônio Neto, from CSB (Central de Sindicatos Brasileiros), and José Gozze, from Pública.
The country’s largest central, CUT (Central Única dos Trabalhadores), did not sign the document, but the Panel found that the entity would not oppose Paulinho’s appointment.

This Friday (24), a special commission was created to deal with the merits of the proposal, whose rapporteur still needs to be appointed. The centrals have defended Paulinho’s name because he came from the trade union world.
“Your recognized experience, combined with your technical mastery of the subject, accredits you to play a strategic role in building the necessary convergences, contributing to the formation of a qualified majority and to the adequate forwarding of a proposal of high relevance for the world of work and for national development”, says the letter to Motta.
Other names have been considered for the role, including the maintenance of deputy Paulo Azi (União-BA), who was the rapporteur at the CCJ.
