Caiado disagrees with Zema, but argues that the STF cuts meat – 04/27/2026 – Politics

The presidential candidate () defended that the (Supreme Federal Court) promotes “cutting the flesh”, but said he was a peacemaker in comparison to the pre-candidate for president (Novo) when criticizing the court.

Caiado participated this Monday (27) in the Paulista Development Forum, in Itu (SP) and, after the event, was questioned by the press about the issues.

“I think everyone has their own style. I totally respect each one, each pre-candidate with their model. But my style is this: I govern by pacifying”, he said.

Zema has, both due to monocratic decisions by ministers and criticizing the Judiciary’s blunders. In the posts, made on social media, he calls the court ministers “untouchables”.

“In every collegiate body, it is always demanded that the collegiate itself gets together and does what we usually say is to cut one’s own flesh. This is the function of setting a good example. In other words, the Supreme Court, at this moment, deserves to recognize a situation that is now a national outcry [aderir ao código de conduta proposto pelo presidente da corte, Edson Fachin] and, as such, it will be up to him to initially take this initiative”, stated Caiado.

The former governor of Goiás said that, if the ministers do not adopt new positions, the senators can “take steps to hold a trial and move towards an impeachment process”.

The impeachment of STF ministers has been, which has given greater attention to candidacies for the Federal Senate, as the Legislative House can guide the revocation of ministers’ mandate.

When talking about Zema, Caiado said that he does not see the possibility of having him as vice-president because the former governor of Minas Gerais “never authorized his name to be used as that”.

The PSD presidential candidate said he hopes that Zema maintains his presidential candidacy (“why would I want to inhibit a colleague’s campaign?”) and that, in the second round, anyone can beat the president (PT), candidate for re-election.

“We have to, at this moment, worry about reaching the second round. Anyone who reaches the second round beats the PT”, he stated.
