May is slowly knocking on the door, and meteorologists have an increasingly clear idea of what kind of weather awaits us. (ČHMÚ) published a long-term forecast for Europe until May 17. Although we will finally see warming after the colder days, the forecast also brings one unfavorable news that does not bode well for the situation in Central Europe. states .
At the turn of April and May, we still have to prepare for a drop in temperatures, which will be slightly and in some places even significantly below the long-term average. The good news, however, is that from May 4, they should start to rise gradually. They will quickly return to values that are normal for this time of year.
According to experts, the weekly average of the lowest night temperatures in the period up to May 3 will only be around +3 °C, then they will rise to around 6 °C by May 17. A similar trend will be accompanied by daily highs. While they are forecast to average 14°C in the first two weeks, they should climb to a comfortable 19°C in the next two weeks.
An unusual situation could also occur in terms of precipitation, although the fluctuations will not be as extreme as in temperatures. Meteorologists expect that the entire observed period will be average to below average in terms of precipitation. It can represent a serious complication in the form of deepening moisture deficit and worsening drought.
