BYD Song Pro gains hybrid version that travels 301 km without using gasoline

A BYD launched a new configuration of the Song Pro DM-i which significantly increases autonomy in electric mode, reinforcing the proposal for mostly fuel-free use.

With a range of up to 301 km (in the Chinese CLTC cycle), the version called Pro Flying Edition approaches the behavior of a pure electric car in urban use.

The model has new LFP batteries (lithium-iron-phosphate) from Blade. Regarding capacity, they range from 26.6 kWh to 34.27 kWh. The declared fuel consumption is 31.2 km/l.

The novelty is part of the evolution of the brand’s system, which combines a 1.5 aspirated engine with a more efficient electrical package and larger capacity batteries.

In terms of mechanical novelties, the Flying Edition configuration It comes equipped with the DiSus-C adaptive suspension system. The system has continuous damping control and monitors driving conditions in milliseconds to increase safety and comfort on board.

In terms of safety, the ADAS package offers the function Navigate On Autopilot (NOA) directed towards highways. With this, the car adds a sensor LiDAR to the ceiling to enable NOA semi-autonomous driving.

In practice, the proposal for the changes is to transform it into a more viable alternative for those who want to travel long distances in electric mode without relying exclusively on frequent recharges.

On urban journeys, the model can operate almost entirely as a , while the combustion engine comes into action to extend travel autonomy.

For now, none of the changes have been confirmed for the Brazilian market. The design changes, however, should arrive later this year.
