Cold front causes rain and drops temperatures in the center-south

A arrival and persistence of a cold front since Sunday (26) brought intense rains across the center-south of the countrywith the presence of a hangover on the coast of Rio Grande do Sul and Santa Catarina, in addition to strong winds up to the coast of São Paulo.

The interior of São Paulo and Paraná, in addition to areas in the center-west and south of the northern region of the country, also record presence of rain and possibility of showerswhich should remain at least until Tuesday (28), according to the National Institute of Meteorology (Inmet).

In São Paulo, the day was marked by an accumulation on the south coast, between the cities of Mongaguá and Guarujá, with a peak of 46mm in Praia Grande, concentrated during the afternoon of this Monday (27).

According to data from the Integrated Hydrographic Basin System (SIBH), from SP Águas, the West of São Paulo also recorded heavier rainfall in the Presidente Prudente region, with amounts between 30 and 35mm distributed throughout the day.

In the north of the state, the regions of Araçatuba and Ribeirão Preto had rainfall above 25mm in the afternoon. There were no records of major impacts by the Civil Defense or Fire Department.

The state Civil Defense considered all regions in the west of the state and on the south coast to be on alert.

The trend for the next few days is for increased rainfall in a large part of the state, with the possibility of high volumes, especially in the south, southeast and east regions. Rainfall must occur irregularly and, at times, may be more intense, increasing the risk of disruption”, highlights the agency.

In Rio Grande do Sul, remain alert for bad weather, with emphasis on low temperatures. On Tuesday (28) the minimum temperatures should be between 1°C and 13°C, favoring the formation of frost in the Campanha, South, Center, North, Serra, Vales and in the western portion of the Metropolitan Region of Porto Alegre.

Maximum temperatures vary between 15°C and 22°C. According to information from the Navy, the sea remains rough on the coast of Rio Grande do Sul, with a surf and there are conditions for rain showers of light to moderate intensity in the Northwest, North and Northeast regions at night.

In Santa Catarina, the cold present since Sunday intensifies on Tuesday (28), with minimum temperatures between 0°C and 3°C in the Southern Plateau and in the highest areas of the Midwest, where there are conditions for frost. In the Great West, thermometers vary between 4°C and 7°C, while on the South Coast they can stay below 10°C.

In other regions, the minimum temperatures are between 12°C and 16°C. The most worrying conditions, according to the state Civil Defense, will occur on Wednesday (29), when instability gains strength, favoring intense rain and isolated thunderstorms, with the presence of lightning, gusts of wind and the possibility of hail. On the North Coast and in the Baixo Vale do Itajaí there are conditions for persistent rain, with the risk of flooding and flash floods.

For Paraná, the forecast is cold on Tuesday morning, with minimum temperatures around 7 degrees. The center and north of Paraná are already in a range with heavy rainfall forecast (between 20 and 50mm) throughout the 28th.
