President of the PSD says that Lula will not win 2026 – 04/27/2026 – Politics

When recapping Brazilian governments since redemocratization, the president of , , stated this Monday (27) that management () “knows how to spend, but does not know how to manage the machine to be more efficient” and that it would have lost performance over time.

The statement was made during a business lunch in São Paulo, promoted by Lide, directed by the former governor of São Paulo João Doria.

The party founded by Kassab counts on the Esplanada with ministers Alexandre Silveira (Mines and Energy) and André de Paula (Agriculture).

At this Monday’s event, Kassab also criticized the former president (PL), stating that he came to power “without a vocation for public life” and had a “very bad” performance, which favored Lula’s election.

“He [Bolsonaro] he had such a bad personal performance that whoever was on the opposite side won, and it was Lula”, he stated.

In the assessment of the PSD president, neither Lula nor Flávio Bolsonaro () should win the next election. He said that he does not believe that candidates with 48%, and with 46%, according to the latest Datafolha survey, can get ahead and that current polls do not reflect the situation of the electoral period.

In March, Kassab launched former Goiás governor Ronaldo Caiado for the PSD as president.

Asked about his party’s support for the Government of São Paulo, Kassab stated that the game is already defined with support for the re-election of (Republicans) for governor and for the Presidency.

In defense of Caiado’s performance in the most recent electoral polls, Kassab stated that no election is defined five months in advance. He brought as an example his own candidacy, in 2008, when he was behind Geraldo Alckmin (now in the PSB) throughout the campaign and in the end was elected mayor of .

Asked about a possible alliance with the PT in São Paulo, Kassab ruled out the hypothesis.

He also said that there is no definition regarding the choice of vice-president on Caiado’s ticket and that the discussion should move forward from June.

When defending greater transparency and combating corruption, Kassab stated that the country needs a president willing to promote institutional adjustments, including in the Judiciary, in reference to the suspicions involving ministers of the STF (Supreme Federal Court) in the case of Banco Master.
