In the same year, he also won the prestigious ADCC (Abu Dhabi Combat Club) title, in grappling, a style of grappling.
He was only the second to accumulate five titles in the same year, after Rubens Charles Maciel, known as Cobrinha, in 2017.
Mica spoke out after her father’s arrest, asked the justice system to fulfill its role and repudiated violence against women.
“It’s difficult to find words for a moment like this. My father, Melqui Galvão, was the one who put me on the mat for the first time as a child. He was the one who taught me how to fight, how to compete, how to respect my opponent and how to have character,” he wrote in a note published on Instagram.
