Statement was given shortly before the publication of the results of the hearing at the Senate CCJ; Messiah was approved by the committee and his name goes to the plenary for a vote
The Minister of Institutional Relations, (PT), stated this Tuesday (April 28, 2026) that the approval of Jorge Messias for the (Federal Supreme Court) is guaranteed.
Upon arriving at Palácio do Alvorada for an off-schedule meeting with the president (PT), Guimarães was asked about the score in the Senate. “Victory!”he limited himself to saying, shortly before the publication of the results of the hearing at the CCJ (Constitution and Justice Commission) of the Senate. Messias was approved by the commission and his name goes to the plenary for a vote.
The official residence of the Presidency became the center of political articulation during the hearing. In addition to Guimarães, the leader of the Government in the Senate, (PT-BA), also participated in the conversations to adjust the last details of the vote count.
The movement also included visits from allied governors:
- Elmano de Freitas (PT-CE): attended on an unofficial schedule;
- Jerônimo Rodrigues (PT-BA): had a confirmed audience with the president.
The articulation led by Guimarães and Jaques Wagner focuses on guaranteeing a greater safety margin than the 41 votes rules in the plenary.
