The CBMERJ (Military Fire Department of the State of Rio de Janeiro), through the DGDP (General Directorate of Public Entertainment), carried out, on the afternoon of this Friday (01/05), the inspection of the structures set up for the singer Shakira’s show, on Copacabana Beach.
The organization’s expectation is that more than 2 million people will watch the Latin artist’s performance.
During the action, the military checked the fire and panic safety conditions in the areas, common spaces, internal backstage access, kitchen, catwalk, administrative areas, stage and dressing rooms.
According to the Secretary of State for Civil Defense and Commander-General of CBMERJ, Tarciso Salles, preventive action is essential to guarantee the safety of the public in large scale events.
“The presence of the Fire Department from the planning phase to execution is essential to ensure that all safety standards are strictly complied with. Our objective is to ensure that the population enjoys major events with peace of mind, knowing that there is someone prepared to act quickly and efficiently in any situation”, he highlighted.
Among the main items checked by the Fire Department were the width and signage of emergency exits, as well as the availability and easy access to fire extinguishers, ensuring that all safety requirements were met.
The inspection carried out this Friday is part of the event release process. This Saturday (2), a second and final inspection will be carried out, the final step towards definitive authorization for the show.
