British driver Lando Norris (McLaren) won this Saturday the sprint race of the Formula 1 Miami Grand Prix, the fourth stage of the season, and recorded his first victory of the season.
Norris, current champion, started in pole position and won 3.766 seconds ahead of his teammate, Australian Oscar Piastri (McLaren) and 6.251 seconds ahead of Monegasque Charles Leclerc (Ferrari).
For the first time this season, Mercedes did not place any cars on the podium. The championship leader, Italian Kimi Antonelli (Mercedes) was penalized five seconds for exceeding track limits and lost the fourth place in which he had finished, falling to sixth.
The Transalpine driver made a poor start from second place on the grid, was overtaken by Oscar Piastri and momentarily by George Russell (Mercedes), but managed to regain fourth place.
Those who benefited from this penalty were Russel, who rose to fourth place, and the Dutch Max Vertappen (Red Bull), who had finished sixth.
The four-time world champion had a poor start and found himself involved in skirmishes with Britain’s Lewis Hamilton (Ferrari) and Argentina’s Franco Colapinto (Alpine), with a few touches in between.
After a month off due to the cancellation of two races in the Middle East (Bahrain and Saudi Arabia) due to the war with Iran, the teams took the opportunity to make some adjustments to their single-seaters and Mercedes appears to have lost the advantage it demonstrated in the first three races of the season.
Even so, British driver Arvid Lindbland (Racing Bulls) did not even leave the pits due to mechanical problems.
German Nico Hulkenberg (Audi) also did not start, after breaking his engine before the race started.
With these results, Kimi Antonelli maintained the championship lead, with 75 points, seven more than George Russell, who is second.
