The São Paulo state deputy proposed in a bill a tribute to his own father, naming the interconnection road complex between the Presidente Dutra, Carvalho Pinto and Floriano Rodrigues Pinheiro highways, in Taubaté, with the name “Mayor José Bernardo Ortiz”.
The project was submitted to the CCJ (Constitution, Justice and Writing Committee) of the Legislative Assembly of São Paulo (Alesp) this Wednesday (29).
Ortiz, the father, was mayor of Taubaté for three terms and also a deputy in the Legislative Assembly of São Paulo (Alesp). He died in 2024 at age 87.
When justifying the honor, Ortiz Júnior also highlighted his father’s career in positions of trust in the Government of São Paulo, his academic career as a professor of engineering, mathematics and physics and his production as a writer and historian.
“José Bernardo Ortiz left a legacy of structuring works, academic contributions and intellectual production that marked the development of Taubaté and Vale do Paraíba”, wrote the deputy, in the bill filed with Alesp.
“His trajectory combines technique, culture and politics, reflecting his commitment to modernization and the well-being of the community.”
