Businessman and doctor Paulo Mirpuri, leader of the Mirpuri family group and one of the founders of the extinct airline Air Luxor, died on Saturday, according to the newspaper Económico, information confirmed this evening by the Mirpuri Foundation.
In a note published in of the foundation, “the deeply sad news of the death” of Paulo Mirpuri, who “inspired so many people”, is shared.
“The way he lived, with courage, determination and a constant desire to do more and better, left a mark on all those who crossed his path”, reads the note from the Mirpuri foundation.
It highlights that Paulo Mirpuri “helped shape the aviation industry, contributed to significant medical research and supported expeditions that led to the discovery of new species and a deeper understanding of the planet.”
Businessman, pilot and doctor, Paulo Mirpuri was leader of the Mirpuri family group, mainly linked to the aviation sector.
He was one of the founders of the extinct Air Luxor and was currently president of Hi Fly, a company specializing in aircraft rental and wet lease operations, that is, renting planes with crew.
Graduated in medicine from Universidade Nova de Lisboa, he later dedicated himself to commercial aviation, having founded Air Luxor in 1988 and, after the airline’s insolvency, Hi Fly in 2006.
