Former New York Mayor Rudy Giuliani is hospitalized in “critical but stable condition,” his spokesman said Sunday, without revealing what the 81-year-old former politician is suffering from.

“Mayor Giuliani He is a fighter who has faced every challenge in his life with unwavering strength, and is fighting with that same level of strength right now,” spokesman Ted Goodman said in a post on X.

Goodman did not specify where Giuliani is being treated or how long he has been hospitalized.

The New York Times reported that Giuliani He was hospitalized in Florida.

Giuliani earned the nickname “America’s mayor” for leading New York City after the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001 against the World Trade Center Towers in Manhattan.

Early in his career, he gained fame as the fearless anti-Mafia prosecutor whose aggressive enforcement of organized crime laws brought down New York’s organized crime families.

But Giuliani, a Republican, has suffered a shocking decline in recent years.

In 2023, a federal jury ordered him to pay $148 million to two election workers after defaming them by falsely linking them to alleged fraud in the 2020 presidential election.

He has since been disbarred from practicing law in New York and Washington.

Giuliani became a strong defender of President Donald Trump and joined his personal legal team during his first term.

He came under scrutiny by the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of New York in 2019 for his activities related to investigations into Ukraine and apparent efforts to dig up dirt on Trump’s Democratic rival, Joe Biden.

The president praised Giuliani on Sunday like a “true warrior” and the best mayor New York has ever had.

“What a tragedy that he has been treated so badly by the Lunatics of the Radical Left, all Democrats, AND HE WAS RIGHT ABOUT EVERYTHING!” Trump added.
