The President of the United States, Donald Trump, announced on Sunday afternoon (3) an operation that he called “Project Freedom” to escort ships that are trapped with the closure of the Strait of Hormuz from Monday morning. The announcement was made in a post on its Truth Social network.
Trump reported that several countries not involved in the conflict in the Middle East have ships stuck in the region and that these vessels are running out of food and provisions. The president also said that these countries asked the US to help free their ships and that they are just neutral and innocent spectators.
“For the sake of Iran, the Middle East and the United States, we have told these countries that we will guide their ships safely out of these restricted waterways so that they can freely and fully go about their business,” he said.
