The Slovak Hydrometeorological Institute (SHMÚ) warns of strong winds in the mountains in central and northern Slovakia. In this context, he issued a first level warning valid from Tuesday to Wednesday morning (May 6). He informed about it on his website.
The warning concerns the districts of Banská Bystrica, Brezno, Poprad, Dolný Kubín, Liptovský Mikuláš, Martin, Námestovo, Ružomberok, Tvrdošín and Žilina. The wind there in the mountains can reach gusts of 110 to 135 kilometers per hour.
“The predicted wind speed is normal for the time of year and area, but represents a potential danger for human activities (especially for hiking, mountain climbing, etc.)” meteorologists said.
SHMÚ also issued a first-level wind warning for the entire Bratislava and Trnava regions on Tuesday. as well as the districts of Bánovce nad Bebravou, Myjava, Nové Mesto nad Váhom, Trenčín, Nitra, Topoľčany and Šaľa.
