Mato Grosso Prosecutor’s Office approves subsidy of R$4,700 – 05/05/2026 – Politics

The Attorney General of Justice, Rodrigo Fonseca, approved last Thursday (30) the extension of a suspension for state prosecutors who work in poorer and more difficult to access locations. The measure comes amid the (Supreme Federal Court) of the judiciary.

In a statement, the press office of the Public Ministry of Mato Grosso states that no new benefit was created and that there was only an update to the stimulus policy.

The new rule provides that promoters who work in municipalities located more than 500 km from the capital, in cities on the border with Bolivia or in those listed as the worst in the IDHM (Municipal Human Development Index) will receive 10% more remuneration. In the case of base salary, the value would be around R$4,700 more.

Previously, the so-called “policy to encourage capacity and stay in units that are difficult to fill” provided for payment only to promoters assigned to the municipalities of Apiacás, Nova Monte Verde, Aripuanã, Colniza, Cotriguaçu, São Félix do Araguaia, Porto Alegre do Norte and Vila Rica. All of these municipalities are more than 900 km from Cuiabá.

The measure in Mato Grosso occurs at a time of limited subsidies, by decision of the minister. At the end of March, the STF defined that the so-called penduricalhos must be paid up to a limit of 70% of the salaries of employees in the Judiciary and the Public Ministry.

In an internal decision on April 30, Fonseca defended some bonuses from the Prosecutor’s Office, such as for working in a place that is difficult to find. To support his defense, he cites resolution 14 of April 7, 2026, which provides for the maintenance of at least ten benefits of this type.

“The new regulation promotes a strict and standardized separation between remuneration funds that have specific ceiling rules and indemnity funds whose payment is now expressly permitted”, says the attorney general.

In the decision, Fonseca argues that, in cases where the penduricalho is allowed, it is the attorney general himself who sets the limits.

The administrative decision regulated five different bonuses, namely: bonus resulting from performance in a public competition, bonus for early childhood and maternity protection, bonus for function in auxiliary bodies or higher administration and bonus for cumulative exercise of jurisdiction.

Two days earlier, on April 28, Fonseca had increased the payment of daily allowances, a benefit maintained by the CNJ resolution. The attorney general reduced the minimum distance for receiving daily payments from 300 km to 40 km.

He also created 12 new positions of deputy coordinators in the Public Prosecutor’s Offices. In practice, the prosecutor who performs the role of deputy coordinator will receive a bonus to assist the coordinating prosecutor in administrative activities.

In a note, the press office states that no new benefit was created and that there was only an update to the stimulus policy. “The payment is provided for in complementary law 416 and has been carried out since 2011, that is, more than 15 years ago”, says the statement. The agency also says that the ordinance established technical parameters for payment.

Regarding daily rates, the Public Ministry stated that the increase in payment was made after regulation by the CNMP (National Council of the Public Ministry) and that the state Public Prosecutor’s Office “adjusted the criteria to enable the payment of daily rates in a simpler way, guaranteeing the continuity of institutional action in regions where the population needs it most”.
