Tarcísio facilitates transfers for works before the election – 05/05/2026 – Politics

The (Republicans) team adopted a series of measures to accelerate the release of resources for road works in the interior of São Paulo before the start of the electoral period.

According to the Secretary of Economic Development, Jorge Lima, the effort included the reduction of requirements from the state government to the municipalities that will receive the resources and even a “call center” so that mayors can contact the Tarcísio administration and answer questions.

“For electoral reasons, I need to make the first payment to anyone interested in resurfacing and paving by June 30th, otherwise I can only make it after the election. So, speed is very important for you and for us”, said Lima this Tuesday (5), at an event at Palácio dos Bandeirantes.

The event, which included the participation of Tarcísio, announced the release of R$2 billion for road works this year. Of this amount, R$200 million will be transferred to city halls, through agreements, released by the Government Secretariat, and another R$200 million will be released to cities through credit lines.

“To make your life easier, we removed some of the previous requirements that are possible, since the resource comes from the state. It has nothing to do with anything federal – as currently everything is federal, right? I don’t know where this train came from. But [essa liberação] It’s ours, it’s statewide. So, as this resource is statewide, we facilitate a lot of documentation,” said Lima. “And we opened a ‘call center’ for you.”

In a note, the government stated that “the emergency nature of the line arises from the immediate need to restore public roads, impacted by summer rains.” The Department of Economic Development said that, to speed up the bidding process, the government made minutes of resurfacing price records available to city halls.

Regarding the “call center” presented by Lima, the ministry stated that the initiative involves “an additional service channel dedicated exclusively to clarifying operational doubts and technical guidance”. Also according to the government, “this channel does not change criteria, priorities or analysis flows, functioning only as informational support”.

The citation to the federal government made by the secretary was a criticism of the propaganda made by the government (PT) in , which highlights that public works in progress, which will give Tarcísio electoral visibility, also have federal resources.

The Secretary of Development, at the end of his speech, stated that, if the mayors are unable to make their agreements viable, he will also enter into partnerships, but only after the elections.

In the same speech, the mayor of São Paulo, (), an ally of Tarcísio who spoke after Lima’s announcement, made clear the intention of the government’s plan to adopt measures.

When addressing another colleague, the mayor of the interior, who had given a statement saying that a project that had been awaited for a long time would be made possible, Nunes said: “The deputy you support there will have a vote for chayote, right?”

According to Sheet showed, last year, from the state that they assessed that there were obstacles to transferring resources to city halls to carry out works.

Dissatisfaction was one of the reasons that led the governor to remove his secretary of the Civil House, Arthur Lima, a friend of the governor since 1992 and considered his right-hand man, from his position.

In Lima’s place, Tarcísio appointed the state president of the Republicans, Roberto Carneiro, to the post. state governments and arrived with the mission of unlocking the transfer of funds to allied city halls.

Tarcísio was elected in 2022, with the majority of mayors in the interior of the state supporting the re-election of then governor Rodrigo Garcia (Republicans), at the time in the PSDB, and assessed, according to close allies, that meeting the demands of local politicians was not a priority.

As the election period approached, however, he gave in to requests for a change of position, coming especially from the government base of the Legislative Assembly.

Questioned by Sheet Regarding the possible electoral nature of the initiatives announced this Tuesday, the Tarcísio administration stated that the transfers of credit to cities, carried out by the Desenvolvimento SP agency, operate following “technical, impersonal and transparent criteria, in accordance with legislation, and that their credit lines are available in an equal manner to the 645 municipalities and micro, small and medium-sized entrepreneurs in the state”.
