The action of the Federal Police that targeted the senator (PI) makes the presence of União Brasil, which form a federation, in the alliance of pre-candidate Flávio Bolsonaro (PL) more uncertain.
The calculation that Flávio’s pre-campaign is making at the moment, according to a member, is what advantage there would be in receiving formal support from the PP at this moment.
The assessment is that the PL, alone, already has the basic requirements for a campaign: reasonable TV time, generous electoral fund, alliances in the states and great national capillarity.
The support of the União Progressista federation would be welcome, but perhaps not worth the effort. According to an ally of Flávio, the operation against Ciro was more than expected, and the next on the list should be the president of União Brasil, Antonio Rueda.
The PP is one of those tipped to nominate the vice-president on the senator’s ticket, but this is not considered an unavoidable problem. Names that have been mentioned are senator Tereza Cristina (MS) and federal deputy Simone Marquetto (SP).
The official speech of the PL campaign is that Ciro is currently just a friend, with no formal connection whatsoever with Flávio’s candidacy.
For an ally of the senator, it is a different scenario from what is posed for the Lula government, in which a former Minister of Justice (Ricardo Lewandowski) and the leader of the , Jaques Wagner (BA), are strongly linked to the Master case.
