A Anvisa (National Health Surveillance Agency) determined the suspension of the manufacturing, marketing, distribution and use of various Ypê brand products after identifying serious flaws in the production process of the company Química Amparoresponsible for manufacturing the items.
The decision also includes orcollection of affected products.
The measure was published in the resolution RE nº 1.834/2026 and reaches dishwashing detergents, liquid laundry detergents and disinfectants manufactured at the company’s unit in Amparo, in the interior of São Paulo.
According to Anvisa, only lots ending with the number 1 were affected by determination.
According to the agency, the decision was made after a health inspection carried out between the days April 27th and 30th this year, in joint action with the São Paulo Health Surveillance Center (CVS-SP) and Amparo Health Surveillance. During the inspection, technicians identified “relevant non-compliances in critical stages of the production process”.
Among the they are failures in quality assurance systems, production and quality control of sanitizing products. According to Anvisa, the irregularities compromise compliance with so-called Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP)set of mandatory health rules for the industry.
The agency further stated that the identified flaws indicate “risk to the health safety of products”with the possibility of microbiological contamination — unwanted presence of pathogenic microorganisms what may compromise consumer safety.
Non-compliance with health rules
Good Manufacturing Practices are regulated by DRC nº 47/2013 from Anvisa itself, a rule that establishes minimum control criteria quality, hygiene, storage, traceability, equipment cleaning and monitoring of industrial processes to sanitizing products.
The regulation provides that Manufacturers must maintain effective quality assurance systems, ensure that products are produced under appropriate conditions and adopt measures to avoid physical, chemical or microbiological contamination. The text also determines that companies maintain strict control about equipment, facilities, water used in manufacturing and cleaning procedures.
The resolution used as the basis for the precautionary measure states that the Failure to comply with health rules may constitute a health infraction, subjecting the company to administrative, civil and criminal liability.
In addition to RDC nº 47, Anvisa cited the Lei nº 6,360/1976which authorizes the Ministry of Health to suspend the manufacture and sale of products which, even if registered, are considered suspected of posing risks to human health.
A agency advised consumers who have the affected products at home to immediately stop using them and contact the company’s Customer Service (SAC) for information about the collection. To the state and municipal levels were also oriented to intensify inspection to prevent the circulation of affected lots.
Among the affected products are lines of Ypê detergents, Tixan Ypê washing machines, Bak Ypê, Atol and Pinho Ypê disinfectants.
A CNN Brazil contacted Ypê and is awaiting a response. The space remains open.
