Adidas has brought together some of the biggest figures in football, music and cinema in a new promotional campaign for the 2026 Football World Cup. The ad, titled “Backyard Legends”, features Lionel Messi, Timothée Chalamet, Bad Bunny, Lamine Yamal, among others.
The campaign focuses on a mix of nostalgia, street football and pop culture, anticipating the tournament that will take place in the United States, Mexico and Canada.
In the promotional video, Timothée Chalamet takes on the main role and tries to put together a team capable of defeating a local opponent considered unbeatable. In one of the most talked about scenes, the actor jokes about the difference between American football and traditional football when he tells Bad Bunny: “What do I know about football? Nothing. I know about football, Benito.”
The production also includes digitally rejuvenated versions of former football stars such as David Beckham, Zinedine Zidane and Alessandro Del Piero, recreated using artificial intelligence.
According to the German brand, the campaign aims to pay homage to street football culture and the imagery of the 90s, combining retro references with modern visual effects.
adidas released a film for the 2026 World Cup with Timothée Chalamet, Bad Bunny and all their superstars… and it’s BRUTAL.
