Former governor João Azevêdo (PSB-PB) highlights “Entrepreneurial State” at the 2nd Conseplan Congress
Paraíba was awarded this Wednesday (May 6, 2026) as the State that most reduced social inequality in Brazil. The plaque was handed over to the former governor (PSB-PB), who left office on April 2, in recognition of his prominence in the state indicator.
The tribute was given during the launch of , at the 2nd Conseplan Congress, in Brasília.
Azevêdo, who left office to run for the Senate, stated that the difference for good management is seeing the State as “entrepreneur”. “Under this logic, Paraíba has worked for the last 7 years”he declared. The State is currently commanded by (PP), who was Azevêdo’s deputy.
The politician said that the most important thing for a manager is “turn your eyes to where you haven’t been able to move forward”. According to him, The state’s fiscal balance allowed investments to be 6 times greater in 2025. He cited as an example the Cabo Branco Tourist Center, which has 14 thousand new beds for tourists under construction.
The former governor declared that Paraíba seeks to reconcile technological advances, such as a quantum computing center, with structural demands, such as serving communities that suffer from a lack of water. For Azevêdo, this balance can only be achieved with good fiscal management.
