The largest wave pool in Portugal will open on this date: this is the location and tickets are available for under €10

Praia das Rocas, in Castanheira de Pera, will reopen to the public on May 30th, following the damage caused by bad weather in recent months. The space, known for having the largest wave pool in Portugal, with 2,100 square meters, is preparing to start another swimming season with new access and an offer that continues to attract visitors to the interior of the country.

According to the news portal, the season runs until September 15th and the restoration work is in its final phase, allowing the complex to operate within its usual normality at the beginning of the summer season.

Summer that makes waves again

The reopening also represents an important return for local tourism. Over the last few years, Praia das Rocas has become one of the main attractions in the Leiria district during the warmer months, attracting families, groups of friends and visitors from various parts of the country.

According to the same source, the bad weather damaged several structures at the site, including shadows, support areas, the roof of the bar and restaurant and even the slide tower. Despite this, the space managed to advance repairs in time for the new season.

Ticket changes the experience inside the venue

One of the changes planned for this year is related to entry into the complex. The publication writes that there is now a single ticket, allowing visitors to use all available activities without additional limitations throughout the day. During the month of June and the first half of September, children pay 10 euros for a full day in the space and eight euros for half a day, while adults pay 13 euros for a day and 10 euros for half a day. In July and August, prices rise a little.

In practice, anyone entering will be able to move between different areas and attractions without the need to purchase separate access. The measure aims to simplify the experience and facilitate the use of the space, especially for those who spend the whole day there.

More than just a swimming pool

It is also important to highlight that Praia das Rocas does not just function as an artificial bathing area. The complex brings together several water activities and leisure areas that help transform the space into a complete summer destination in the interior of the state.

According to the same source, among the activities available are slides, canoes, stand up paddle, roller ball and water swans. In previous seasons, free water aerobics classes were also promoted during the summer.

Impact on the local economy

The movement generated by Praia das Rocas also has repercussions outside the site. Restaurants, inns and local businesses benefit every year from the increase in visitors during the bathing season, especially in a municipality that depends heavily on tourist demand in the summer months. Ekonomista says that the space continues to have a relevant weight in the tourist projection of Castanheira de Pera, functioning as one of the biggest points of attraction in the central region outside the traditional coastal areas.

Unlike many bathing areas close to the coast, Praia das Rocas stands out for offering a summer experience in an environment surrounded by nature and far from the busiest sea beaches. This factor helps to explain why it continues to attract visitors year after year, especially at a time when many Portuguese people are looking for closer, more practical alternatives with affordable prices for a day of family leisure.

Opening date already set

The confirmation of the opening gave peace of mind to tour operators and residents of the region, after some uncertainty caused by the damage caused by the weather conditions. The work was supported by insurance responsible for covering damage, allowing the infrastructure to be operational before the official start of the bathing season.

In addition to the wave pool, the complex maintains several support structures designed for different age groups, making it a frequent option for families during the school holiday months. The publication adds that the combination of water, entertainment and diverse activities continues to be one of the main arguments of the space, especially for those looking to spend a full day away from the traditional beaches of the Portuguese coast.
