Venice – For the first time since the start of the Ukraine invasion, Russia is taking part in the Venice Art Biennale. This was opened on Saturday. This divides the Italian government: While Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni made it clear that she was against the Russian presence and Culture Minister Alessandro Giuli stayed away from the opening, Deputy Prime Minister Matteo Salvini visited the Russian pavilion on Saturday. He warned against the “politicization of culture and sport.”
