Cleaning external window sills. How to remove bird droppings from them?
When doing so, we should not forget about the details and external window sills. It is the latter that collect dirt, dust and dust floating in the air the fastest. But not only that. Bird droppings are also a common sight on external windowsills. And you must remember that pigeon droppings on windowsills are an aesthetic, hygienic and health problem. They contain acids that can damage surfaces and transmit diseases. Therefore, it is crucial not only to use a good cleaning fluid, but also to properly protect yourself against infection. Water with the addition of dish soap and vinegar will be effective. Of course, the key is to soften the dried poop so that you can then wash it off without any major problems. How to clean window sills with this liquid?
Spray generously on dirty window sills. It will dissolve pigeon droppings and disinfect the surface
Mix 0.5 liters of water in a bottle, add 200 ml of vinegar and a tablespoon of dishwashing liquid. Shake to mix the ingredients and spray the mixture generously on your outdoor windowsills, focusing on the excrements visible on them. Place a wet cloth on them and leave for 5-15 minutes to soften the dirt. Don’t let the water dry out. Spray again if necessary. This will avoid scratching the windowsill. Once the droppings have softened, use a plastic spatula or an old credit card to gently scrape off any larger pieces. Hold the spatula at a low angle to avoid scratching the surface. Then use a wet microfiber cloth (soaked in soapy water) to wipe off the residue. Rinse the cloth frequently in clean water or use new, clean pieces. Once you have removed the bird droppings, spray the windowsill with a vinegar and water solution. Vinegar is a natural disinfectant and helps neutralize unpleasant odors.
Safely remove bird droppings. Remember these rules
Of course, when cleaning, do not forget about proper protection against germs. Pigeon droppings may contain bacteria (e.g. Salmonella, E. coli) or fungi. Therefore, always use thick rubber or nitrile gloves. Also wear a protective mask to avoid inhaling dust and fungal spores. Before you start, put on old clothes and wash them immediately at high temperature or throw them away after cleaning.
