Parises celebrates the Festa dos Tabuleiros Floridos with procession, walks and mountain traditions

The village of Parises, in the heart of Serra do Caldeirão, in the municipality of São Brás de Alportel, hosts on the 16th and 17th of May another edition of the Festa dos Tabuleiros Floridos, an initiative integrated into the “Villages of Portugal” route.

The event, held in honor of Our Lady of Fátima, promises a diverse program, with religious, cultural and recreational options aimed at the whole family.

The traditional festival once again brings together hundreds of visitors in a celebration marked by a candlelight procession, pilgrimage, walks, workshops and the usual dance with an auction of flower trays.

According to the organization, this is “one of the most emblematic traditions of the mountainous area of ​​São Brás de Alportel”, contributing to the appreciation of intangible heritage and the strengthening of community ties.

Walks and procession mark the first day

The program begins on Saturday, 16th, with the Pilgrimage to the Chapel of Our Lady of Fátima, organized by Scout Group 1330 of São Brás de Alportel.

At 3:30 pm, two different walks depart from the churchyard of the Main Church. One of them runs along the Municipal Road for 20 kilometers, on a route of medium difficulty, with logistical support from .

Registration is open until May 15th, at 4pm by phone 289 840 000 (national landline) and email.

At the same time, the Trail Walk connecting the Via Algarviana takes place, organized by the group “São Brás a Caminhar”, on a 19 kilometer route classified as highly difficult.

The Candle Procession, scheduled for 9:30 pm in the Parises Chapel churchyard, ends the first day of the festivities.

Workshops, grocery store and dancer liven up Sunday

On Sunday, the 17th, activities begin next to Casa da Serra – Núcleo Interpretativo da Serra do Caldeirão, with the “Sabores da Aldeia” workshop.

The initiative invites children and adults to learn how to make “Brandeirinhos” and “Party Cookies”, in addition to preparing traditional flower trays.

From 11 am, Parque da Serra also hosts the “Mercadinho na Aldeia”, with handicrafts, local products, meals and snacks.

The Eucharist in honor of Our Lady of Fátima takes place at 3:30 pm in the Parises Chapel, followed by the traditional dance with David Brito, the performance of the group “Carolas” and the long-awaited auction of the flower trays.

The Festa dos Tabuleiros Floridos is one of the most emblematic traditions of the mountain area of ​​São Brás de Alportel and attracts hundreds of visitors annually, valuing intangible heritage and strengthening community ties.

This special edition of the Festa dos Tabuleiros Floridos in honor of Our Lady of Fátima is organized, in partnership, by the Municipal Council of São Brás de Alportel, the Parish of São Brás de Alportel and the Scout Group 1330 of São Brás de Alportel.

The event also has the support of the São Brás de Alportel Parish Council, the “Os amigos da Serra de S. Brás de Alportel” Association, the IN LOCO Association, the “São Brás a Caminhar” Group and the “Amigos da Aldeia” Working Group.
