Clamp the aphid tip. According to the expert, this is the most effective solution

Neither chemistry, nor grandmother’s recipes, nor incantations. If you really want to get rid of the aphids that are destroying your roses, use a simple method on them. “It works exactly where you need it,” says Jana Bucharová in the podcast consultation.

You can listen to the audio version of the podcast here:

You will slowly start to rejoice at how beautifully your rose beds bloom and how many fragrant flowers there will be this year. But then you come closer and notice the wrapped leaves. The little green destroyers are probably everywhere and the ladybugs obviously can’t keep up this year. You start thinking about spraying, but you don’t actually want to let it into your garden. “Bet on other predators,” advises Jana Bucharová, an expert in the magazine Receptář on garden topics, in the podcast.

Don’t leave it to chance

Sprays, even natural ones, can sometimes damage roses. And sometimes the sunshine is simply not enough. However, cinders are much more powerful. They can eliminate an incredible amount of aphids. You can house them easily in the garden, and since they only hunt at night, you can move their dwellings during the day to wherever they are needed next.

Get started building

You need a house. But you won’t be hammering nails or mixing mortar.

  1. A simple ceramic flowerpot, some straw, a stick, string and a piece of mesh will suffice.
  2. Thread the string through the drain hole and secure it with a stick or twig at the wider end of the flower pot. If you don’t want to hang it, but rather put it on a stick directly in the flower bed, you don’t even have to do that.
  3. Put the straw in the flower pot and secure it inside with a piece of mesh so that it does not fall out.
  4. If you want, you can easily decorate the “houses” from the outside, the sparrows won’t care, but you will get a cheerful element in the garden.
or put it upside down on a stick and just wait for the predators to move in and get to work.
